A December to remember
It is the darkest days of the year and it keeps on falling light and white. Snow, coming to us in extreme winter conditions, covering the mountains and giving us the deepest, driest powder anyone can remember. Some said it was gonna be the “end of the world” on the solstice, and for some unlucky people it was, but for us there was no time to reckon with “the end” because we are caught up living in the now of a powder-bliss land.
The weather came in off of the north west coast of US with cold and wet converging over the Central Cascade Mountains and my home ski resort of Stevens Pass. It started snowing in the beginning of the month and this mother of nature does not want to stop. Already it seems like the best of mid seasons with the white plastered to rock giving way to a riders dream in the forest with special spines to slarve, and pillows of love to drop.
Now with trees crashing around and power failures in houses going down some are cursing this bad weather to stop. For those who live to ride the storm what a gift it is to be alive and this December skiing in Washington State is one to remember.
Merry Xmas, and may we all go FULL Wingspan in 2013.
Hope to ski with you out there somewhere.
